The laidback life of a traveller in the Caribbean
Thursday, February 26th, 2009I have been slacking off with my blog lately, and I realize it. Less inspiration to write, plenty of fun things to do and horrible internet connections are decent excuses but I know that my loyal readers deserve better. I will skip the blogs I had planned about my trips to Medellin and Bogota but I will put up a photo-blog about the Caribbean today and will come up with two blogs about Rio de Janeiro in the coming week or so…
About a month ago I visited the idyllic fisherman’s town Taganga at the Caribbean coast of Colombia. It inhabitants about 3000 people, living of fishing and tourism. I stayed there for about 10 days, did a PADI open-water diving course and visited National Park Tayrona.
Taganga is located in this beautiful bay, to the left of National Park Tayrona which has the one of the most beautiful diving sights of Colombia. I was lucky enough to catch this rainbow on my way back to the airport, it hardly ever rains there.
Casa Blanca, the hostel I stayed in, was location wise the best hostel I’ve ever seen. Waking up with a dive in the Caribbean Sea and some tropical fruit for breakfast was pretty ideal, the cold shower without showerhead before going out for dinner wasn’t exactly….
A nice view from the balcony…
lots of blue…
A local walking home with the catch of the day!
A piecefull picture of daddy bringing his kids to school in the early morning…
Tayrona National Park. A protected area of 150 square km land and 30square km. sea. The land is almost all rainforrest which ends where the broad and rough sand beaches start…
There are a couple locations where it’s possible to rent a hammock. So I slept a night in the park and got up early for another day of walking…
In Tayrona National Park you can find the 2nd most beautiful beach in the world, and yes that’s about as arbitrary as it gets.
After a couple hours of walking in the park you will find the most beautiful beaches all for yourself.
Colombian jungle…
That’s all I have for this blog. The next ones will be better quality. I will put up a blog about the city Rio de Janeiro, the most beautiful city I have ever seen and the second one will be a carnival edition…
Greetings from Bogota,
